Doctor of Philosophy Program in Digital Economics and Management Innovation (International Program)

1.       Philosophy, Significance, and Objectives of the curriculum

1.1.     Philosophy

To Create new and applied knowledge for career in the pace of digital economy changes, and develop the organization through innovation, based on economic thinking in the management of business innovation that integrates science with modern technology. For sustainable economic and business development and being recognized in the international academic community.

1.2      Significance

This Ph.D. programme is an international program that focuses on human resource development in advanced economics and business administration to raise the standard of modern entrepreneurs. According to the national strategy for building competitiveness, especially using digital technology, quantitative analysis tools, information technology for management purposes, and modern business management techniques. For research studies and digitalization used to develop agriculture, also create value, increasing productivity, both quantitatively and its value combining a variety of agricultural products. Industry and service of the future that drive Thailand to a developed country with innovation and technology of the future. Developing the economy based on new entrepreneurs.

 

1.3      Objectives of the course

          The objectives of this programme were to develop our students to possess the following characteristics:

1.       An innovator capable of synthesizing and applying knowledge in digital economics and management innovation with other related disciplines

2.       Possess the ability to design new ideas and apply management innovations, based on the concept of digital economics

 3.      To become an expert in digital economics at an International level

4.       To become a leader, be patience, be enthusiastic in work, respect the rights and opinions of others, and also possess morals and professional ethics

 

2.       Cost per head (Maximum)

        450,000 Baht

2.1      Education system

Learning and studying activities will be carried out in classroom, both credit and non-credit. Self-study, and community field study, that involves learning outside the classroom

          2.2      Academic credit transfer and enrollment within universities

Transfer of credits and enrollment into the university should be in accordance with the regulations of Maejo University. In terms of graduate studies announced at that period.

 

3.       Curriculum

          3.1 Curriculum

          3.1.1 Number of credits

 

          3.1.1.1 Type 1.1

This study type focuses on developing new researchers equipped with high skill. This study type allow student to engage only on their dissertation which should not be less than 48 credits and also study some non-credit courses as deem fit according to the programme coordinator.

3.1.1.2 Type 1.2

This study type is research-oriented for bachelor's degree graduates who engage on dissertation of at least 72 credits and study additional non-credit courses as deem fit according to the programme coordinator.

3.1.1.3 Type 2.1

It is a study plan aimed at building researchers to be ready with academic content and research skills with 12 credits of study and at least 48 credits of dissertation.          

Transfer of course credits and cross-university enrollment should be in accordance with the regulations of Maejo University on graduate studies announced at that time

 

Student Eligibility for Study

Course Type 1.1

1)       Student must have successful complete a master’s degree program or equivalent. Major in economics or business administration or other related fields from an educational institute certified by the Civil Service Commission (Office of the Civil Service Commission) or have research experience or related work in social sciences, economics, business administration, marketing, and marketing. Public and private management accounts and or other fields for at least 1 year and have successfully passed the English language proficiency test, that meet the criteria set by the university

2)       The student must be a qualified person according to Maejo University's regulations. On issues governing graduate studies in accordance with the regulations and other announcements of the relevant universities Enforced at that time.

3)       In other cases, the discretion of the student selection depends on examination committee.

 

Type 1.2

1)       The student must hold a bachelor's degree with a GPA of 3.25 or more in economics or business administration. Or other related fields and have research experience in economics or business administration or other related fields for at least 3 years or have published a research articles that are not related to his/her thesis/dissertation for at least 3 times in a period of 5 years prior to the date of application.

2)       The student must be a qualified person according to Maejo University's regulations. On issues governing graduate studies in accordance with the regulations and other announcements of the relevant universities Enforced at that time

3)       In other cases, the discretion of the student selection depends on examination committee.

 

Type 2.1

1)       Student must have successful complete a master’s degree program or equivalent. Major in economics or business administration or other related fields from an educational institute certified by the Civil Service Commission (Office of the Civil Service Commission) or have research experience or related work in social sciences, economics, business administration, marketing, and marketing. Public and private management accounts and or other fields for at least 1 year and have successfully passed the English language proficiency test, that meet the criteria set by the university

          The program structure is divided into subjects in line with those specified in the Ministry of Education's graduate program standards into 3 types:

Graduation Criteria

Type 1.1 and 1.2

1) Pass English proficiency exam according to the rules and conditions announced by the university at that time.

2) Pass the Qualifying Examination to be eligible to continue on his/her dissertation.

3) Propose dissertation in English language and pass the final oral exam, which should be conducted with an open system for those who are interested.

4) Dissertation of part of it must be published or recognized for publication in international journals. (2 Papers).

5) In the event that a student receives a scholarship from an outside university, the student's graduation criteria must meet the criteria of the funding source, but not lower than the program's graduation criterion.

 

Type 2.1

1) Complete all courses as specified in the curriculum. The student must have a minimum grade point average of 3.00 from a 4-point system or equivalent, and no subject must have received letters I and or Op.

2) Pass English proficiency exam according to the rules and conditions announced by the university at that time.

3) Pass the Qualifying Examination to be eligible to continue on his/her dissertation.

4) Propose dissertation in English language and pass the final oral exam, which should be conducted with an open system for those who are interested.

5) Dissertation of part of it must be published or recognized for publication in international journals (1 paper). And at least one academic work must be presented at an international conference, (1 International Conference)

          6) In the event that a student receives a scholarship from an outside university, the student's graduation criteria must meet the criteria of the funding source, but not lower than the program's graduation criterion.

Maejo University play an important role in preserving, promoting and transmitting the astrological knowledge and wisdom related to Songkran. Songkran promotes community cooperation, unity and forgiveness. It is viewed as a time to symbolically wash away misfortunes, pray for prosperity for the coming year, reunite with family members, and honour ancestors and older adults.

This year Maejo University International College also won the 3rd prize of Songkran parade (small size institution) and 3rd prize of Lanna Lab (northern ground pork salad).
